A vertical belt sheath for a Leatherman or any comparable multi-tool - three pieces, two pattern pages, and about a palm-sized piece of leather. Snap-closed flap, riveted belt loop, and a shape that holds the tool tight enough that it does not rattle when you walk.
This is the smallest pattern I sell, and the one I would hand to somebody making their first sheath. Roughly 0.03 m² (46.5 sq in) of leather - a scrap off the bench is usually enough - and no exotic hardware: one 12 mm snap and one 10 mm double-cap rivet.
Leather and hardware
2.5 mm / 6 oz vegetable-tanned leather throughout, one weight for all three pieces. One 12 mm snap, one 10 mm double-cap rivet, 0.8-1 mm thread. Dye, gum tragacanth, neatsfoot oil, wax and finish to close it out.
Tools
Utility or X-Acto knife, beveler, slicker, 5 mm round punch, 4 mm diamond chisel, mallet, two needles and a cotton dauber. That is the whole list.
Skill level
Beginner. Three flat pieces, one line of stitching, two pieces of hardware. If the saddle stitch is the part that worries you, read this first - it is the only technique the build really depends on.
